Volume Loss Treatments

Volume loss treatments can be used to restore volume to different areas of the face, enhance facial contours and allow a youthful appearance to areas that sag or hollow.

As we age, our body's natural production of hyaluronic acid diminishes, and the muscles, fat, bone, and skin in our face begin to reduce and thin. Volume loss treatments can provide hydration, structure and volume, smooth skin, and create a fresh, youthful appearance to the face and lips.

Effects of volume loss treatments are seen immediately and can last anywhere from 4 months up to 2 years, depending on the location targeted.

These treatments are not permanent, and can be immediately reversed if required.

At VERSA, our volume loss treatments focus on easing signs of ageing through volume replacement and hydration whilst being mindful not to ’overfill’.

Volume Loss Treatment Options

Tear trough

As we age we lose fat from under our eyes. This can make us feel sunken and create a tired appearance. Volume loss treatments used in this area can be used to help correct hollowing.

Darkness under the eyes is not an indication for this treatment alone, however often there are noticeable improvements in the appearance of colour as well as hollowing.

This is an advanced treatment and must be performed by an experienced cosmetic nurse, such as the team at VERSA. Not all individuals are suitable for this treatment.

Mid-face | Cheeks & Nasolabial Folds

Part of the ageing process is a loss of volume in the face, particularly the cheeks. Volume loss treatments can be used to restore fullness and reduce shadowing, helping to achieve a natural, youthful contour of the cheeks that complements your facial structure. Volume treatment also helps reduce lines known as ‘naso-labial folds’, which run between the nose to the corner of the mouth. Whilst volume loss is a result of ageing, it can also be a result of lifestyle, weight loss and genetics.

Lips

Lip volume, shape and definition is largely thanks to hyaluronic acid and collagen. Unfortunately, as we age, we produce less of both. As a result, the upper lip begins to thin, flatten, and curl further inward when we smile. Our lips also don’t have sebaceous sweat glands that help keep the skin moisturised. This means our lips tend to become dehydrated and dry faster than other parts of the face or body. Treating the lips with volume loss methods helps to enhance, shape, define, hydrate, and if desired, add volume.

Lower Face | Chin & Jaw

During the ageing process, the chin resides backwards, resulting in reduced structural support in the lower face. Enhancing the chin with volume loss treatments can have many positive outcomes and generally lasts 9 - 18 months.

Reducing the appearance of the ‘double chin’ can be achieved when the chin is enhanced to project further forward. Optimising the chin can also create a perceivable decrease in the apparent size of the nose. Adding volume to the chin is not the most common treatment that clients ask for but can sometimes be the most appropriate for the client’s desired outcome.

At VERSA our goal is to ensure results are natural, allowing normal movement and expression.

The price of volume loss treatments vary depending on the treatment method and area.

Each volume loss treatment is uniquely formulated to have a certain texture, density, and depth.

The appropriate treatment will be selected for the desired area during your consultation. Pricing can be discussed during your initial consultation.

Frequently asked questions?

  • Volume loss treatments can be more uncomfortable than wrinkle-reducing treatments. Prior to lip treatments, a strong topical numbing cream will be applied. Numbing effects will be felt within a few minutes and continues to work for a few hours.

At VERSA it's a priority to help you feel as safe and comfortable as possible.

  • Volume restoring results are instant and will continue to lift over the three weeks that follow.

  • VERSA does not offer wrinkle-reducing or volume loss treatments to people who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • Treatments are not available for persons under 18 years old. This includes those with parental consent.

  • If after 3 weeks, once most swelling and small bumps should have resolved, you are still not happy with the results, volume loss treatments can be reversed with a further treatment.
